ColourVibrant garnet red with violet ink hues.
AromaLifted perfume of dark forest fruits and with hints of vanilla and cassis.
PalateForward fruit of blood plums and black cherry combine with sweet oak flavours. A round fleshy palate with sweet spices and fruit, silky tannins provides a layered flavoursome finish.
Growing ConditionsThe 2017 vintage featured a wet Winter and warm Spring and Summer. This resulted in healthy yields of grapes with excellent varietal flavours and vibrant natural acid. Summer and Spring conditions were optimal for ripening, which encouraged steady development of ripe, pure flavours in the grapes, and allowed winemakers to optimise harvest dates to pick the grapes at their peak of winemaking potential. This resulted in great colour, aromatics and ripe fruit characters all balanced by a superb tannin structure.
Vinification/MaturationFermented in automated stainless steel fermenters for a period of 5 days with pump overs occurring up to 6 times daily. Once the desired tannin profile was reached the must was then pressed off and racked onto premium French oak and allowed to mature for a period of 6 months. The wine was then blended and fined before being filtered for bottling.
