Growing Conditions2015 was almost a perfect growing season, with a mild spring and summer and no extreme heat which allowed a long and even ripening period for fantastic flavour development. Shiraz from well managed vineyards escaped any damage or disease and remained clean throughout ripening and was picked at optimum ripeness.
Vinification/MaturationRipe fruit was both hand picked and machine harvested and fermented in open fermenters. Variable portions of whole bunch fruit was utilised in all ferments for lifted aromatics and stalky complexity. All ferments where plunged with 10 to 12 days on skins and pressed once dry, maturation was completed for 9 months in French oak hogsheads and puncheons; toasty and spicy coopers where used to help express the spicy and floral nature of Canberra Syrah. Light fining and filtration was completed before bottling to ensure a bright and vibrant wine.

This Syrah from Canberra shows vibrant red berries, violets and spicy white pepper notes. The palate is a classic cool climate Syrah with elegant finely textured tannins and medium bodied in style.
