ColourBright straw colour with green hues.
AromaAromas of lemon and lime from Semillon and capsicum notes from Sauvignon Blanc blend together with nuances of white peach and honey blossom.
PalateThe palate shows an appealing array of passionfruit, citrus with freshly cut grassy undertones. Semillon with its melon and citrus composure balances perfectly with the primary fruits of a Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp and refreshing, balancing out with a textural and long finish.
Growing ConditionsSolid above average rainfall in winter helped to produce good soil moisture and ample base nutrients for the vines to thrive naturally. Spring and summer were cooler than normal with only six days during this period over 40 degrees compared to the average of 15 days. Small patches of rain occurred during the ripening and harvesting season which was beneficial in reducing any disease or mould to the grapes. Fruit on the vines were plentiful but took much longer to ripen than usual with the harvest date being delayed by two weeks behind the normal timings. Overall, the 2017 vintage in the Riverina was average to good with whites producing the stand out varieties. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are looking good with fresh fruit style wines showing vibrancy, freshness and crisp, natural acidity
Vinification/MaturationAll grapes for this wine were carefully selected and harvested in the the cool of the early morning. At the winery the grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and chilled with the juice draining quickly from the skins. After natural cold settling, the clear juice was racked off, warmed and inoculated with a natural yeast strain, specially selected to enhance the varietal fruit characters of the two grapes varieties. Fermentation was slow and cool to assist in retaining the natural fruit flavours and aromas. After fermentation the wine was blended to the style set by winemaking to ensure consistency and freshness. The wine then went through the final process in preparation for bottling with gentle fining, stabilisation and filtration.
